「東京の家」写真集はフランス人写真家が東京都内のユニークな現代建築の個人住宅を、3年余りかけて撮影した写真集です。
日本に住んでいると当たり前になっている、
住宅街に潜む違和感を独自の視点で捉えた。
建物の外観だけでなく、
そこで暮らす人々も写し込むことで日常を感じることができる、
全く新しいタイプの建築写真集。

隈研吾、坂茂、妹島和世、西沢立衛、青木淳、長谷川豪ら設計による、
東京の住宅街にある現代建築の個人住宅を53軒収録。

本書は2014年にフランスで刊行された「東京の家」のシリーズを日本独自
の仕様で新装版として出版しました。

Jérémie SOUTEYRAT

1979 年フランス生まれ。東京在住。 2001 年に理工科を卒業。多くの国々を旅することを通し、次第に写真を自己表現の手段とすることを考えはじめる。「マグナム・フォト」のレイモン・ドゥパルドンの作風に影響を受け、彷徨写真というジャンルに出会う。2005 年に来日し、日本に"一目惚れ"する。一年を費やした自己制作による初の作品、パリに暮らす若い世代のアフガニスタン移民の日常生活のドキュメンタリーは『ル・モンド』をはじめ数紙に掲載される。新たな文化と異なる生活様式と出会いへ欲求はさらに高まり、2009 年、日本を拠点に活動することを決意。東京から、「ル・モンド」、「ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナル」、「エル」、「デア・シュピーゲル」、等、欧米の一流メディアからの発注に対応する。ドキュメンタリーからポートレート、建築写真まで自身が大きく影響を受けた小津安二郎、ホウ・シャオシェン、エドワード・ヤンなどの映画監督と同様、制作アプローチには常に人間を中心に据えている。2014 年、始めての写真集「東京の家」がフランスで出版される。

‘tokyo no ie (Tokyo Houses) » is a photobook by a French photographer that collected Tokyo’s unique contemporary architecture single houses during 3 years.
Viewed from his own point of view, what can be seen as common in residential areas when living in Japan becomes singular again.
The residents of those areas are pictured as well, catching a glimpse into their daily life.
A new type of architectural photography book.

Profile
Jérémie SOUTEYRAT
Born in France in 1979. Lives and works in Tokyo. After graduating as a mechanical engineer in 2001, Jérémie Souteyrat took his first travel pictures in many different countries and photography became gradually a way of expressing himself, under the influence of Magnum photographer Raymond Depardon. He first went to Japan in 2005, and fell in love with it at the first sight. He decided to focus on photography, and produced a photo report about young Afghan migrants in Paris, which was published in some newspapers and magazines in France, including Le Monde. In order to discover a new culture and way of life, Jérémie quit his job and settled in Japan in 2009. Currently based in Tokyo, he receives assignments from some of the most prestigious Western newspapers and magazines (Le Monde, The Wall Street Journal, Elle, Der Spiegel, etc.), for documentary, portraits and architecture photography.
In each field, his work is focused on the human being and influenced by Asian movies directors, like Hou Hsiao Hsien or Edward Yang.
His first monograph, tokyo no ie, was published in France in 2014.
